(Note: There will not be a weekly update released next week, July 5, 2021)
Well, that’s a wrap! We were able to conclude the 2020-2021 school year last week and send all of our students off to the much anticipated, well-deserved and welcomed break for the summer!
Yesterday, we shared the building hours for all SAU 29 sites that go into effect today, Monday, June 28th. Those hours are also listed below in the update for your review and reference. We will post these on our websites as well. Folks that need access to the buildings for any reason are advised to call in advance so that you can be accommodated.
The draft 2021-2022 opening plan is scheduled to be released this week for public input. As the pandemic continues to move in a downward trend, we are approaching the next school year with a much more “back to normal” mindset. There will continue to be a top priority placed on the safety and well-being of our students and staff as well as those that enter our buildings moving forward. And we will continue to do so based on the current guidance from our state health officials as done successfully throughout the past school year.
We will also continue to further analyze student result data with a clear intention of providing the support needed for all students in our schools, fully recognizing that we have students that faced challenges during the pandemic and we also have students that excelled. Meeting the needs of the whole child for all of our students is what we intend to do…..not just academically.
Once the draft plan has been released and the public input portion has concluded, we will finalize the plan and share it widely for everyone to access. I want to pause here for a brief moment, because I believe we all know that no matter what we put together, there will be a portion of folks that will not fully agree with everything in our plan. We also know that there will be folks that completely agree with what we plan. The bottom line is that we simply can not have 4,000 plans in order to effectively and efficiently operate our schools.
So, my request is that when you review our draft, that you consider the parts that may not be exactly how you envisioned them to be, and to reflect on that before responding. We ALL want the same outcomes for students, yours, mine, and everyone else's...Inspiring and empowering every student to succeed! And collectively, we will get there!
In the meantime, please try to take a break from the grind that the past year and a half has bestowed upon all of us and enjoy the things that bring you happiness...whatever that may be. We have all endured a great deal during this time and together, we will rally to reestablish all of the amazing things throughout our communities that make this such a beautiful place to live!
Wishing you a wonderful, relaxing and safe summer!
