Friday, 11/13/2020 - SAU29 COVID-19 Update

Dear Families and Staff,

As our community, county and state are faced with the alarmingly accelerating pandemic, the Boards and Administration of SAU 29 met moments ago to discuss how best to safely continue with teaching and learning.  Effective Monday, November 30, 2020 all SAU 29 schools will shift to a fully remote instructional model with the intent to resume onsite learning after the holiday break on January 4, 2021 (provided we are below the “Substantial” level of transmission).

Students that are currently remote only will continue on as they are doing now.  Students that are in some form of onsite learning (hybrid or fully onsite), will shift to remote with the instruction being provided by the same onsite teachers and staff they currently have at this time.  More specific details will be provided by individual schools and teachers at a later date.

Our students and staff have done an incredible job keeping transmission from happening in any of our buildings thus far.  However, with the rapidly increasing number of positive cases of COVID-19, both in Cheshire County and across the State of New Hampshire, we realize that this may not be sustainable.  In order to give people time to prepare for this transition, we are making this decision now, before that decision is made for us as a result of an outbreak in a building.  If, however, there is an outbreak prior to November 30th, that school will shift immediately.

We absolutely recognize that this will be extremely difficult for many of our families, our staff and for our community as a whole.  We share in the concerns that this shift will cause, but as we have stated numerous times, the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff are a top priority.

We will continue to monitor the numbers in both the county and the state throughout this time and provide updated information as needed.

On behalf of the staff and the Boards of the SAU 29 Districts, we thank you for your understanding and your cooperation during these difficult times and collectively, we will all get through this together.  Please continue with the safe practices even if others are not.

Be Well!

Robb
