hello Marlboro family is its Mist netting and I'm here to introduce myself I am the school library media specialist and I work in the mall. it's library and we I've been there for 12 years I love teaching Library research and and appreciation for literature and all kinds of exploration to our Library resources this year is a little bit different as everyone knows with the covid-19 precautions we are not going into the library at all only adults are allowed in the library note to students it's for their own safety because the books that the room isn't sprayed as often as other rooms because the books need to be secured We are following procedures that protect you from from any bread with the book when they come in they sit for 2 days they get shell 2 days later and then they have to sit for two more days before they are used again so this gives it time for the virus to to die off the books are safe when they leave the school so I have been delivering books it's been a very busy year I've been delivering books to the students at first just guessing what they might like but also giving them a sheet of paper where they can make suggestions and requests for books or subjects or authors that they really like it's done really well so far I think Center sometimes down there but are still finding interesting so I've had a lot of fun with it if your child is getting books that they are not interested in I tried to swap them out to them and have conversations about what they would like I believe it's very important for students to practice was traces of their own and reading obviously though with the appropriateness for their age level and reading level so definitely parent help with this as wonderful as parents are helping their students what's great is if you will read aloud to your student your child even older students love to be read to even I love to be read to so a lot of adults like audiobook send and other types of reading so if you could read to your students that it goes a long ways and helping them in their academics and their reading ability they learn a lot of vocabulary that way and then when they're able to read to you they also get better at fluent and and the pronunciation of words phonics and reading so if you can please read to your child every day if they are older maybe have them read for at least 20 to 30 minutes date that will really help them develop their reading skills so if they they learn their instruction at the school the instruction on how to read but the practice should be done on things that they really likes to read so that they can still develop a love of reading in addition to working in the library I also and this is one of the sixth grade advisors advisor for 6th grade advisory this year I also am doing intervention helping with reading in the first grade and some of the other great just go out any student and k-25 gets a weekly Library time a lesson and book check out I'm the Middle School can email me anytime I can break deliver new books to them occasionally will swap out books for them I'll go to a costume it's like they need it they don't want and bring them new books I'm also I can the middle school students anytime they need any type of intervention or if they are doing a lesson that involves research or reading I'm happy to help out with any of those I'm trying to focus a little bit this year the ladybug Awards with case 3 and once we finish that we will move into what we call cybrary the students love that that that turned it cyber it's a mix of Science and Library try to bring a little more science reading into their classrooms so I hope that I get to meet all of you at sometime this year I know it's hard without being in person but I'm glad to share the things that I do please don't hesitate to call or email me my email is see netting and u t i n g at SAU 29.
